Designing a service visual identity that promotes intergenerational connection

Context

This work is part of the academic project carried out during the Master's Degree in Strategic Design of Products and Services, in collaboration with Eibar Town Council, which aims to create a new service that promotes intergenerational cooperation and ageing value in the town of Eibar through the remodelling of the Torrekua building (see image below).

Goal

To design the visual identity of the service to represent a cultural space/service for the recovery of Eibar's identity and preserve it from the passage of time through the transmission of intergenerational knowledge. Finally, to generate content for its promotion in the city of Eibar.

Design requirements

- The design must differentiate the different spaces under the same visual identity
- The design must reflect the town's industrial past
- The design must also reflect the participation of society and promote Eibar's culture
- The design must offer an institutional image.

Iconography

The figure of a box was chosen to represent the structure of the Torrekua building. Each box corresponds to one of the activities that will be carried out in the building and is differentiated by colour.

Each colour represents a different space. Each space, like a box, has to be filled with activities.

Promotional poster and signage

The Torrekua building is divided into three main spaces (Sabel, Esku and Garun), each one fulfilling a function.

"Esku" room: A space for the manual work of the industries that were born in Eibar and to disseminate this knowledge among the members. It has all the technology for production and also traditional restoration tools, because ‘that vision that only the years give’ is just what we need.

"Garun" room: A place to share experiences, to abstract and be inspired by one's own and other people's concerns. With soundproofed concentration rooms and computers to facilitate work in the workshop and speed up processes.

"Sabel" room: A meeting place, a place to pass through and to take a break. Here you can share some pinchos and anecdotes while enjoying the live work of the workshop. Large, communal tables, to generate those dialogues that surround food and give meaning to the way we relate to each other.
